About Jessica
A Life Built Around Family, Work, and Service
I did not grow up planning to run for political office.
My life has been built around raising a family, working, serving my community, and stepping forward when something was not right.
I am a mother of five. I raised three of my children while our family lived on three different Army bases, where I learned how quickly circumstances can change and how much families depend on one another during uncertain times.
More than twenty years ago, I came home to Kentucky.
This is where I continued raising my family, built my working life, and became increasingly involved in the issues affecting the people around me.

I Understand the Pressures Families Face
Like many Kentuckians, I have balanced work with children, school schedules, household expenses, unexpected problems, and all the responsibilities that never make it into a campaign biography.
I know how government decisions made in Frankfort eventually find their way into our homes through the price of groceries, utility bills, housing costs, school funding, workplace protections, and the taxes attached to nearly everything we need.
Working in Our Schools
My professional experience has taken me through law offices, public-policy research, community advocacy, and public education.
For the past seven years, I have worked in public-school transportation. I drive a school bus and earned my state certification as a Driver Training Instructor.
Families trust transportation employees with their children every day, and that responsibility has never felt small to me.
Working in our schools has also shown me how much Kentucky depends on people whose work is too often overlooked.
Bus drivers, instructional assistants, custodians, maintenance employees, food-service workers, and office staff help hold our schools together.
I helped organize classified public-school employees because the people doing this essential work deserve a meaningful voice in the decisions affecting their jobs, families, and students.
Listening, Researching, and Asking Questions
My community work has included housing and civil-rights advocacy, helping people research difficult problems, and asking questions that institutions would sometimes prefer not to answer.
Through that work, I have learned that most people do not need a politician to speak over them or tell them what matters.
They need someone willing to listen, find the facts, explain what is happening, and carry their concerns into the rooms where decisions are made.
Why I Am Running
That is what led me to run for the Kentucky State Senate.
I am running because too many families are working harder while falling further behind.
Too many workers are expected to accept unfair treatment because challenging it feels impossible.
Too many communities learn about major decisions only after those decisions have already been made.
Meanwhile, partisan politics keeps people fighting one another while the cost of housing, food, energy, healthcare, and education continues to rise.
The dynamic we have been stuck in is disrespectful. The impact is very real.
What I Believe Government Should Do
I am a Democrat because I expect my government to be a powerful force for good, protecting our rights, investing in our communities, educating our children, and ensuring everyone has a fair chance to thrive.
I also expect my government to be disciplined, transparent, responsible with public money, and accountable to the people it serves.
Those are my controlling principles.
You Do Not Have to Agree With Me on Everything
I will not decide whose concerns matter based on a political label or which side of the fence someone stands on.
We will not agree on everything, and honest disagreement is not something to fear.
I will listen, answer questions directly, and tell you the truth as I understand it.
If I need to learn more, I will say so.
If evidence changes my understanding, I will not pretend otherwise.
Public Office Is an Obligation
The people of Madison County and southern Fayette County deserve an active senator who studies the issues, attends to the work, communicates with the public, and remembers that holding office is an obligation, not an entitlement.
I did not arrive at this moment through a political career.
I arrived here through work, motherhood, research, advocacy, hardship, and service.
It Comes Down to Respect
My work has always been about respect.
My service to you will always be about RESPECT.
