About Jessica
Jessica McIntosh is a mother of five, public-school employee, social advocate, former legal assistant, independent researcher, and community leader.
She is the 2026 Democratic nominee for Kentucky State Senate District 34, representing Madison County and southern Fayette County.
Jessica raised three boys while living on three Army bases before returning to Kentucky more than twenty years ago. She has spent the past several years living, working, and raising her youngest son and daughter in Madison County.
Her understanding of government comes from experiencing it where most Kentuckians do – at work, in public schools, around the kitchen table, and in communities trying to solve problems with limited resources.

Experience in Public Education and Community Advocacy
For seven years, Jessica has worked in public education transportation, becoming a Kentucky-certified school bus Driver Training Instructor in 2023.
Her most recent community work has included housing and civil rights advocacy and organizing classified public-school employees.
Looking Beyond the First Answer
Jessica’s advocacy grew from refusing to stop at the first given answer.
When something did not make sense, she dug deeper – studying the laws, budgets, public records, and policies behind it – and then used what she learned to organize people, challenge poor decisions, and press for practical change.
Understanding How Kentucky’s Challenges Are Connected
That work taught her how closely our problems and what we need to succeed are connected. Housing costs affect family stability and school funding.
Low wages and policy deficiencies contribute to workforce shortages and weaken local economies. Limited internet and cell service restrict access to education, employment, healthcare, and emergency assistance.
Aging water systems and neglected infrastructure leave ordinary Kentuckians absorbing the cost.
Together, these conditions draw rural residents toward larger towns and cities in search of jobs, housing, healthcare, education, and reliable services.
That places additional pressure on growing communities while leaving smaller ones with fewer workers, customers, and resources.
A Practical Approach to Leadership
Jessica is not tolerant of a stereotypical politician. She does not confuse difficulty with impossibility or accept that a longstanding problem must remain unsolved.
She is willing to navigate politics, ask hard questions, follow the facts, and stay with the work until a practical way forward is found.
